Electrical& Electronics Engineering serves as a starting point for careers in many fields.Our Department was established during the inception of the college in 2002 as the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE). Since its commencement, the primary objective of the Department has been to impart quality education, training, and research at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels in various areas of Electrical & Electronics Engineering.As a step in this direction, we began the postgraduate programs in Power Electronics from 2012 and the Center for Research from 2017. Currently, three Research Scholars are pursuing research leading to aPhD degree [1 Part-time Scholarand 2 Full-time scholars]. We have a leading edge teaching facility and state-of-the-art laboratory facilities to enhance the learning experience of the students and to develop the analytical and practical skills to serve better industrial, organizational and research set-ups.We arethe Training ServiceProvider from 2016 forAdditional Skill Acquisition Programme under Skill Kerala Mission. From 2017, we are the approved training center for training the youth in Engineering Skills based on the job roles as per National Occupational Standards prescribed by Ministry of Skill Development through Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY) – TI.We provide individual attention and an excellent quality of education. As an outcome, our students are consistently ranked among the best in the state and we are justifiably proud of our faculty, students and facilities. Electrical Measurements Lab

The main objectives of this lab course are 1.To expose the students to different types of electrical measuring instruments. ii) To make the students understand how to use these instruments for measuring an unknown quantity. iii) To calibrate & test different types of electrical measuring instruments.

Electrical Workshop

The course is designed to provide students a widespread knowledge and understanding of the workshop tools and other facilities. The indispensable and pervasive knowledge of electrical wiring and the electronic circuits will give the students an insight to their practical approach in our daily life.Use of tools used by electricians, wiring regulations, types of cables and electric accessories including switches, plugs, circuit breakers, fuses etc., symbols for electrical wiring schematics e.g. switches, lamps, sockets etc., drawing and practice in simple house wring and testing methods, wiring schemes of two-way and three-way circuits

Power Electronics Lab

The power electronics lab enhances the EEE students by providing them the better understanding of the concepts and working of advanced power semiconductor devices and power electronics circuits.
This lab also provides the platform for the UG students to perform and check their minor project, multi-disciplinary design and major project.
This lab enables the PG students to make and test their project.
Lab is open for the Research Scholars to carry out their Research during the working hours of the Institution. 

Project Lab

This Project Project Lab is an open lab where all students have ready access to basic electronic test equipment and instrumentation. The primary purpose of the labis to provide the space and resources needed by students to complete their Senior Design and general student Projects.

System Simulation Lab

 A simulation is an approximate imitation of the operation of a process or system; the act of simulating first requires a model is developed. This model is a well-defineddescription of the simulated subject, and represents its key characteristics, such as its behaviour, functions and abstract or physical properties..System Simulation Lab provides exposure of latest version of MATLAB/SIMULINK based virtual instrumentatio.

This lab gives hands on experience in various digital signal processing techniques and in control system analysis using MATLAB.

This Lab provides the facilities to Study and Practice various control aspects related to any industrial Processes. That Includes modelling and control of different real time systems both in simulation and also in experimental set up. Matlab, LabVIEW and PLC simulation softwares are the key component of this Laboratory. In addition to this, Students can design and implement controllers for controlling real-time variables like level, flow, temperature and pressure. Other control system components like actuators, Sensors and final control elements are also available in this lab so that students can familiarize and do experimentations on these components. 

Electrical Machines Lab

 This is the main lab where experiments like load test on  various machines, speed control tests, open circuit tests, short circuit tests, etc are carried out..and also wide variety of practical experiments are performed  here with combination of different rotating machines. The laboratory is also used for research activities in machines and to carry out project works on energy conversion.

Power System Lab

Power Systems Laboratory was created to allow electrical engineering students and researchers a place to study electrical power systems through lab experiments and system simulation while also supplementing the electric power systems theory that is taught in the classes such as “Power Systems”.Power system Laboratory comprises of protection, simulation, high voltage and machine related experiments.Varieties of Power system Simulation packages like Load flow,PSCAD are available.eExperiments like ,Study on AC load flow using Newton-Raphson method.Study on AC load flow using Gauss-seidel method.

Electronics Lab

This is the lab where basic analog and digital experiments are conducted. This lab aslo provides the foundation for integrated electronics engineering. Students are made familiar with integrated and digital circuits and their intended use in various applications. This Laboratory primarily aims to meet the requirements of practical work meant for active components basic analysis, designing and testing of Integrated circuits. This lab gives wide exposure to students in the area of Integrated circuits and enables them to equip themselves to work in more advanced laboratories in the department.

Association of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (AEEE) was founded in 2002 as an official student organization in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Jyothi Engineering College Cheruthuruthy. It serves as an official representative body of the Association members. Our aims include promoting the comradeship and understanding among members, facilitating the communications between the Association and external bodies and helping members to gain insight of their profession and future career.

    Mr. Paul Mohan , Mr. Kiran Elias and Mr.Delvin Davis of S7 EEE (2015 Admission) won third prize for the project Smart Bus System.in National level Smart Odisha Hackathon 2018 held at College of Engineering and Technology, Bhubaneswar during November 13th -15th 2018.

    Mr.Joseph P.K, Mr.Giyo George K, Mr.Jizon S Arakkal and Mr.Edwin Joseph of S5 EEE (2016 Admission) received an amount of 1.5 lakhs from Kerala Start up Mission for the project work ‘Automatic Recycle Machine’

    Ms.Anagha of S7 EEE has been selected by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to the post of Assistant System Engineer in the pooledcampus recruitment drive conducted by the company.

    Mr.Deepakraj T Chandrahasan of S7 EEE has been selected by WIPRO to the post of Project Engineer in the pooledcampus recruitment drive conducted by the company.

     Major events

    a) Department of EEE Conducted a 2 day workshop on “Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)” for S8 EEE (2012 Adm) students in association with ISTE & AEEE students chapter JECC was held on 04/02/16 & 05/02/16. Inaugural function was conducted on 04/02/16 at 9.30 am in the EEE seminar hall. Principal K K Babu inaugurated the function and Asst.Manager Fr.Roy Vadakkan felicitated the function.

    b) Mr.Joseph Joshy, Placement officer handled a brain storming session on GDs to the faculty members of EEE Department on 05/02/16 at 12 pm.

    c) Department of EEE conducted three departmental events on Tharang’16 (Robowar ,Transformer Designing,& Circuitronix )

    d)Department of EEE conducted an expert talk on “Special Electrical Machines and Drives”  in association with IEI for S8 EEE (2012 Adm) students on 26/02/16 in the EEE seminar hall.

    e) Department of EEE conducted a 2 day International conference on ”Recent Advances in Electrical Engineering” on 18th and 19th April 2016. Dr. Prahlad Vadakkepat , Asso. Professor, Electrical & Computer Engineering, National University of Singapore was the chief guest. He also delivered an expert talk on “Embodied Cognition and making man out of machines” after the inauguration. Total 24 papers were presented in the conference. On  the first day first session was chaired by Dr. T N P Nambiar (VAST), Prof. N Venugopalan (Prof, EEE JECC), Mr.Sreekanth M (AP,ECE,JECC). On the second day FN session was chaired by Dr. Sasidharan Sreedharan (Director, Thejus Engg College), Ms. Sindhu S (AP, ECE, JECC), Mr. Kapildas K S(AP,EEE,JECC) and AN session was chaired by Dr. M Nandakumar (HOD, GEC Thrissur), Mr Ratnan P (HOD, EEE, JECC) and Dr. Jose P Therattil ( HOD, ECE, JECC).

    f)Inauguration of the course (Assistant Electrician”  under ASAP – DAT Scheme, Govt. of Kerala was held at 9.30 am in the Insight hall. Fr. Roy Joseph Vadakkan inaugurated the function.

    g)PG Induction Ceremony was conducted on August 1st 2016 .It was inaugurated by Radhakrishnan K former principal GEC Thrissur

    h)NAAC Peer team visited the dept on August 29th and 30th -2016.
