NATURA Environmental Forum
'Try to leave the Earth a better place than when you arrived' - With this motivation, Jyothi Engineering College has started a NATURA ENVIRONMENTAL FORUM which was inaugurated on 4th July 2009 by Mr. Raghavan Nambiar, Director Nehru College of Engineering Pambady. NATURA club will help to promote, monitor and operate the environment activities of the college. The club is the driving force behind all environmental and sustainable activities at the college.The club has a college coordinator who coordinates the entire activities of the club. The club has got two student representatives from all the classes, apart from a department co-coordinator from each department. Besides this all the staff and students of the college are encouraged to become actively involved in the clubs activities. Every year the NATURA CLUB celebrates 'World Environment day', and in connection with this a Seminar will be arranged to the students to make them aware of environmental protection. Apart from this the club is organizes activities like paper bag and seed distribution, construction of useful products from waste materials to be become more eco-friendly. The club also conducts debate, poster making, quiz etc, to make the students aware of the present scenario.

The 'World Environmental Day-2016' was celebrated on 25 th June 2016 at 11.00 am in the Decennial Hall. Dr. S. Sreekumar (Associate Professor, Dept. of Geology and Env.Science, Christ College, Irinjalakkuda) has inaugurated the function. The chief guest, Dr. S. Sreekumar, has also given a talk on "Environmental Protection", where he has covered all aspects of Environmental Protection using power point presentations. The chief guest, Dr. S. Sreekumar, has also planted a tree at AyurJyothi, the medicinal garden in Jyothi. Following that some management representatives and Principal have also planted trees there. The event comes to an end by 12.50PM.
As a part of Tharang 2016, Natura Environmental Forum of Jyothi Engineering College has organized a two day exhibition, as an extension of Kerala Agricultural University (KAU). Plants and other products were bought to the college on 18/2/2016 itself. The stall was arranged with various plants, seeds, homemade chocolates and other products by 19 th February morning itself. They have allotted three staff from Kerala Agriculture University for assistance in our college. These staff was assisting us for the two days of exhibition. Many of the staff from our college and students of various colleges visited the stall. The stall was a success as sales are also promoted there, in a profitable way. We have packed the remaining and returned the same to KAU by 20/2/16 itself. All department co-coordinators have done their duty very well to make this a great success.
Jyothi Engineering College has celebrated its 'World Environmental Day- 2015' on 14 th July 2015 at 11.00 am in the Decennial Hall. Dr. K. K Seethalakshmi, Principal Scientist, IRTC has inaugurated the function. The chief guest, Dr. K. K Seethalakshmi, has also given a talk on "Bamboos", where she has covered all aspects of bamboo using power point presentations. The chief guest, Dr. K. K Seethalakshmi, has also planted a tree at AyurJyothi,the medicinal garden in Jyothi. Following that all the dignitaries and Natura student representatives have also planted trees there. The event comes to an end by 1.00pm.
The College has established a an ex-situ conservatory garden of medicinal plants in collaboration with Oushadhi. Shri M. Muraleedharan, Secretary PNNM Ayurveda medical College, Shornur has inaugurated the function. This garden has around 40 species of various important medicinal plants. The following medicinal plants has been introduced as a part of ex-situ conservatory in June 2015: Ashokam, Brahmi, Kanikkonna, Chittamruthu, Ungu, Venga, Athi, Iluppa, Thanni, Chandanam, Plassu etc.
National Service Scheme
National Service Scheme (NSS), the scheme was launched in Gandhiji's Centenary year, 1969. Aimed at developing student's personality through community service, NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, Universities and at +2 levels working for a campus-community linkage. The cardinal principle of the NSS program is that it is organized by the students themselves, and both students and teachers through their combined participation in community service, get a sense of involvement in the tasks of nation building. It gives opportunity to students to interact with society, teaches dignity of labour, develops personality, enhance cultural and artistic talents.
A unit of NSS JECC (Unit No: 244) was inaugurated on 27/10/2011 in the college auditorium. Unit will have 100 volunteers, having one unit Secretary, nominated by the Programme Officer for each unit. The Programme Co-ordinator will appoint Programme Officers for each unit in the Colleges, from the among the panel of teaching staff, forwarded by the Principal, of concerned Colleges.

Special Camp consists of 50 volunteers/unit and should last for 10 days. Activities consist of check dam construction, village/tribal colony adoption, preservation and conservation of Rainwater, Nature Study Camps, Mass greening Programmes, Wild life awareness, etc.
Certificates are issued to NSS volunteers at Final year of study. They should have completed 240 hours of work in NSS and attended a special Camp during their course.
Blood Donors Forum
An active Blood Donor's Forum is running in Jyothi Engineering College which has become a great aid for a lot of patients in Medical College Thrissur, Jubilee Mission Medical College, Amala Medical College, West Fort hospital etc. The Forum was inaugurated on 26-11-2009 by Shri. Radhakrishnan, Hon'ble Speaker, Kerala Legislative Assembly. The Forum has a history of providing blood at any time of day which has proved to be a great help for patients in critical conditions. The Forum conducts at least one Voluntary Blood Donation Camp in each year. Talks by various eminent personalities from medical profession to promote Voluntary Blood Donation among the students are conducted regularly..

A talk on blood donation and Red Ribbon was given by Dr. Ganesh and Dr. Raphi, Jubilee Mission Medical College on 1/12/2014. It was jointly organized by BDF and NSS unit of JECC. A VBD was conducted on 11/02/2015. A team from JMMC led the camp and 53 student donors donated blood.
Blood Donation Forum of JECC conducted a posture competition in connection with World Blood Donation Day reflecting the theme "Thank you for Saving my life" on 24th July 2015. The Forum also organized a blood donation camp on 17-02-2016 (Wednesday) at CSE Seminar Hall from 9. 30 am to 12.30 pm. A team of 12 members from Jubilee Mission Medical College, Thrissur conducted the camp. Forty three students donated blood.
Women Development Cell
Women Development Cell (WDC) was inaugurated on 31-03-2009 by Ms. Margi Sathi, the renounced Koodiyattom artist of Kerala Kalamandalam. WDC in JECC is named as "SANSKRITHI". Motto is "Each women for a woman". In compliance with a directive from the University of Calicut, Jyothi Engineering College is conducting Women Development Cell (WDC) Activities ever year. It acts as a forum for providing a conducive environment for self empowerment of girl students and to take care of the problems and matters related to them.

The Women Development cell of Jyothi Engineering College conducted a free checkup for Breast cancer diagnosis followed by Mammography on 22-02-19 in the college in association with Cochin Cancer Society, Jubilee Mission Medical College and PNNM Ayurveda Medical College Cheruthuruthy. About 50 ladies including staff of the college and the premises participated in the programme.
As per the direction given by the Police Head Quarters Govt. of Kerala, a class on self defense for women was conducted in the college on 09-02-2019 from 10 am to 3pm by the women development cell in association with women cell of police. The programme was inaugurated by Fr Roy Joseph Vadakken (Campus Head) and about 50 girl students participated in it.
The Women Development Cell of Jyothi Engineering College in association with Professional trainers Club Thrissur conducted a survey on “Achievement motivation of College Girls.”
The Women Development Cell of Jyothi Engineering College visited Pope Paul Mercy Home at peringandoor, Athani,Thrissur ( A Home for mentally retarded children ) on 21-11-18. An amount of Rs 8000 was donated as charity fund. Our students conducted cultural programmes which made them happy.
A motivational talk by Dr.Usha Menon for S8 and S6 girls was conducted in the Decennial Hall on 12/3/18 & 14/3/18 respectively.
The Women Development Cell of Jyothi Engineering College has celebrated International Women's Day 2018 on 8th March 2018 at 2.00pm in the Decennial Hall.The programme was inaugurated by Ms.Sandhya Mannath (Director, PNNM Ayurvedha Medical College & Hospital, Cheruthuruthy).She spoke of achieving your goal through determination and discipline in life.She said the proper interpretation of Vedas speaks for women’s protection and liberation simultaneously.

Women Development Cell of Jyothi Engineering College celebrated World Women's Day on 9.03.2017 at Decennial Hall. The chief guest of the function was Dr Geetha Kutti P S. She is serving as Professor & Project Coordinator of Gender studies in Agriculture and Farm Entrepreneurship Development of the Kerala Agricultural University. Principal Dr K K Babu, Assistant Manager(Finance) Fr. Jojo Chiriyakadath, Dr Usha Menon , Prof. Annie Joseph, Women cell student and staff coordinator were blessed their gracious presence on the dais. In connection with inauguration the chief guest delivered a talk on "Women Empowerment and Technologies". The students of women cell conducted a mime regarding women empowerment. Function came to an Educational at 12.30 pm.
The women development cell of Jyothi inaugurated the 2016 year activities on 28th Oct. In connection with the inauguration, a talk was also conducted by Fr Jinto Perapppadan. The talk was focused basically on first and third semester students with a content of "A Successful Life: the result of positive thinking". Dr. Usha Menon inaugurated the function and Fr. Roy Joseph Vadakkan conveyed felicitation.
Women Development Cell of Jyothi Engineering College celebrated Women's Day on 8th March 2016.The 2016 theme for International Women's Day is "Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality". A talk on the theme was delivered by Dr. P.Indira Devi , Director, Centre of Excellence in Environment Economics .Dr K.K.Babu delivered a presidential Address .Fr Roy Joseph Vadakkan delivered a special address during the function.An introduction about the Chief Guest was given to the audience by Dr Usha Menon,Professor-BSH Dept.Vote of thanks for the event was delivered by Ms. Neeraja P G, Staff Coordinator –Women Development Cell. Women students participated in an interactive session with the guest after the session .
Margi Sathi, one of the finest exponents of Koodiyattom and Nangiarkoothu, passed away on 2nd December 2015. A condolence meeting was convened on the day to commemorate the death of Margi Sathi who inaugurated the Women Development Cell of Jyothi Engineering College.
A Session for Faculty members on Self Defense for Women was conducted on 17.11.2015 from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm at AEI Seminar Hall .The session was handled by WASP(Women Academy for Self Protection) a National Development Agency.
The Women Development Cell "SANSKRITHI" of Jyothi Engineering College started its activities for the academic year 2015-2016 with the inauguration on 9.10.2015 by Dr K R Lekha , Scientist WSD KSCSTE .The Inauguration was followed by a talk on "Women in STEM – a fillip to National Development". Dr Lekha stressed the need of Women in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) which are otherwise dominated by men. STEM fields have an equal mix of men and women, some have a higher percentage of women . Dr Lekha emphasized the need for young budding engineers to broaden their perspectives in their future career.
The Department of physical education of Jyothi Engineering College, holds a unique position in sports and games in the Calicut university established in 2002. The department has produced a number of sporting heroes and heroines who have won many Calicut university and state championships. The department provide opportunities for students to participate in sports and games so as to make their stay in college campus useful, purposeful and enjoyable. Facilities for games such as Basketball, Cricket, Footballand handball and indoor games like table tennis badminton and chess are provided. Gymnasium with sophisticated fitness equipment are available for the students for improving their physical fitness, the department also provides regular, organize training program to the students in various sporting events for their wholesome development.
A full time physical education personal is assigned to facilitate the activity of the department. Our aim is to bring the college among frontiers through sports activities. The department also organized inter collegiate competitions to nourish sporting talents among the students. As a part of physical education activities, students are motivated to take part in the intramural tournaments and annual sports meet. apart from this, students are encouraged to participate in the university, district level and PECSAGA (Private Engineering Colleges Sports And Games Association) competitions.

The College Health Club houses an ultra modern gymnasium, 2000 square feet in plinth area, catering to the needs of the fitness enthusiasts. Staff and students are free to use the gymnasium under the tutelage of professional trainers. Its state-of-the-art equipment includes bench press,peck deck,bicep curl, lateral pulley and body twister machines. A fitness professional possessing the knowledge, skills and abilities for safe and effective exercise and fitness program design, instruction and assistance for the purpose of reaching personal health and fitness goals is appointed to train the needed.

The Parent- Teacher Association (PTA) is an effective platform of Jyothi Engineering College to enhance the relationship between Teachers and Parents. It is a forum to address all issues related to student's academic life. The objective of PTA is to share information and to contribute constructive suggestions for student's educational and moral growth.
